A Fashionable Fairy Tale: NY Bridal Week
Tulle mermaids, blush fairies and dancing lace ladies: New York International Bridal Week was a fairy tale come true for our very own Rachel Moore. Be U Weddings sent her off to the Big Apple, where she was completely fascinated by the latest trends and had the pleasure of meeting so many creative and fabulous designers. Here is her bridal breakdown…
Claire Pettibone {Floral Fairytale}: Fall 2013 Bridal Collection
{Photos courtesy of Claire Pettibone on Pinterest}
Claire Pettibone is already a Be U Weddings favorite (our publisher wore a dress by Claire on her big day!). If you haven’t had the chance to meet Pettibone yet, please indulge us and view her enchanting bio here. Pettibone’s early childhood, spent living in rural New York, cultivated her wonderful imagination of a romantic and dreamy world. Her magical influences were clear from the goddesses that showcased her ethereal masterpieces, elegantly floating down rose petal floors. It was truly “A Midsummer’s Night Dream,” and I am still completely pixy-dusted.
{Haute Trends: floral appliqués, floral crowns, European lacework, ornate necklines, intricate back details, vintage and modern medleys, bohemian sleeves, flowing ribbon, and colorful embroidery}
{Colors: rose, pale pink, ivory, muted celadon green}

Ines Di Santo {Queen of Carnival}: Fall 2013 Bridal Collection
{Photos from the front row at Ines Di Santo at the Cedar Lake Ballet Theatre}
Ines Di Santo was greatly inspired by Europe’s “Queen of the Adriatic”—also known as the romantic city of Venice—and its grandeur annual Carnival of Venice celebration. Dainty bejeweled queens danced down the aisle with ornate masks and immaculate gowns scattered in Swarovski crystals. Di Santo stayed true to her grand and graceful aesthetic, utilizing mermaid, trumpet and ball gown silhouettes. Each gown maintains historical influence by its name (such as, Lucrezia, Regina, Bellina, Florian, etc.)
{Haute Trends: detachable peplums, Baroque adornments, floral appliqués, dramatic details, unique necklines, embroidered flowers, and ornate draping}
{Colors: antique ivory, champagne, off-white, rose petal pink, and vanilla}
Anne Barge {All the Little Details }: Fall 2013 Bridal Collection
{Photos from Anne Barge at Pier 94… I am absolutely head-over-heels for this Swarovski crystal veil!}
At Anne Barge’s show, the models romantically strolled down the aisle to charming French tunes that had everyone drifting off to bridal paradise. Barge enchanted viewers with classic shapes adorned with little surprise and delights. The glamorous gowns were very sophisticated but embellished with over-sized bows, Delphine belts, detachable layered skirts of tulle, and intricate pleating.
{Haute Trends: pleats, V-necks, vintage-inspired Chantilly lace, bows, layers, and ribbons}
{Colors: white, blush, off-white and pearl}
{Bridal Market Gems}
The Bridal Market at Pier 94 oozed and overflowed with so much talent. Here is just a taste of what I saw.
I bumped into quite the stylish booth of David Fielden in the Bridal Market at Pier 94. David is a British designer of unique and edgy wedding dresses and evening wear. His pieces? Top-notch.
It was such a pleasure to meet Kim Lai of Bloom Bazaar, a collection of high-end whimsical accessories that will leave you daydreaming for days.
These alluring pearls are by Linda Lee Practico. Practico is GIA-certified in pearl grading to ensure the quality of her line. She incorporates fresh water pearls, large natural baroque pearls, onyx, mother of pearl, and a variety of colored crystals into her designs. All of these natural elements combine to create a completely stylish and one-of-a-kind piece.
Coming out of such an amazing display of dresses, I must say: I am completely baffled as to how all of you brides-to-be zero in on one dress! I have much more to share with you, Be U readers, so stay tuned for Bridal Week details coming soon!
Stay in the Loop.
