Summer months bring in lovely sun-filled days, the kind you simply want to spend basking in the warm rays on North Shore. While I rejoice in most things summer related there is an evil lurking on the horizon for us curlicue gals. Humidity, it wreaks havoc on our delicate waves. So just what can be done to ensure every curl is in its proper place for your walk down the nuptial aisle? Lucky for you we have hunted down products soon to become your curl perfection best friend and well honed tips from the team at Mario Tricoci. Read on to go from a frizzy que-tip to a cascade of bridal curls.

The Mario Tricoci Hair Salon and Day Spas have been manipulating Midwest bridal curls into place for decades. Creative director John Gialluisi tells us it is important for us Curly Sue’s to take the weather and climate into consideration when planning bridal hair. “Curly hair is extremely susceptible to moisture and humidity it needs to be styled appropriately based on these external factors” he says. He tells us that curls are best pinned up and away from the face for bridal finesse:

- Taking advantage of the Bride’s gorgeous curls, the stylist created ringlets across the back. Hair was then pulled back away from the face starting at the temples (just above the ears), twisting the hair and tying it in a knot in the back. This creates a perfect anchor for a veil as well as looks beautiful during the reception when the veil is removed.  Using the natural texture of the hair to create this classic shape will ensure the final style can last all evening.

- The side sweep is achieved by bringing up the hair on one side and across the back by braiding it underneath, against the head. This removes all the weight from the back and allows the waterfall effect to one side that is chic and takes advantage of the Bride’s beautiful natural curls. This look works especially well on Brides opting for flowers in her hair over wearing a veil.

When it comes to up-do’s I have also thought it best to work with day old dirty hair but Gialluisi tells me my curls have been mismanaged. He informs us that “Curly hair must be shampooed and conditioned the day of the event and styled while dripping wet to obtain the best, most uniform curls.” To keep curls in tip top shape the Tricoci team suggests using Rockin Curl {a paraben free humidity resistant crème that provides UV protection}. “Curly hair is thirsty for product and this one brings out your natural curl with an extra softness.  It’s a light, moisturizing product that doesn’t weigh hair down,” says Gialluisi. Another miracle curl product Ocean Mist, which will provide volume while adding flexibility with sea salt and algae. “Ocean Mist will give hair that great second-day looking – beach-blown hair with great volume and texture” he finishes telling us. Both products can be used on damp or dry hair and are available at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas for $13 each.

Like any girl needing curl intervention I am always on the hunt for new product but know that many make promises and few deliver, you could say I am a product skeptic. So when Mixed Chicks {available at Target},and Agadir Argan Oil {available at Agadirint.com} asked us to test out their products, I wasn’t expecting much. Well let me be the first to say that my curls have never looked better with so little product. I will be stocking my shelf with these two from now on. {I truly love the Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner} No summer hair fears plaguing this #BeUgal.
