Got You.

A great team of vendors equals great beauty. Your big day is like a puzzle: many pieces working together to create a well-rounded look and feeling. This is seen no better than in this short film brought to us by Fig Media.  We have interviewed each vendor involved to get advice and tips on how to create beauty for your wedding day.

Get it on film:

Got U was created for Style Down the Aisle, a fashion show at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower’s Grand Ballroom. The amazing part of the film production is that it was shot all in one day, with nine looks and nine locations. “It was a true testament to my team—they helped me every step of the way and believed that we could do it,” says Melissa Martens, the film’s director. The film is meant to depict a couple on their honeymoon rewinding through the wedding to the engagement. The owners of Fig believe in vendor collaboration and they push their teams with creations of projects like this, which results in stronger unity when working together on weddings.

Hair for your big day:
“I was really honored to be a part of this project because it was a group of true professionals, and all day you could just tell that everyone was involved because they really love what they do and love being able to create,” says Shelby Smith, who styled the hair for filming. Smith is part of The Bridal Team Chicago, representing the top hair stylists, makeup artists, manicurists, estheticians , and photographers in the industry. She tells us braids are still a big trend in bridal, but suggests trying something new, like a four-strand braid. Smith suggests not being afraid to play with human hair clip-in extensions for your big day. “They will add significant volume and you can take them out before your honeymoon even starts,” she says.

Look your best:

Frances Tsalas, also of The Bridal Team, did the makeup for the shoot. She suggests, “When you are at your makeup trial, communicate with your artist about the looks you love. If you’re not crazy about the look they create, don’t be afraid to let them know—it’s makeup after all, one clean swipe and it’s off.” The different looks captured in the film were styled by Amanda Wolfson, production manager from Oak Street Design. “We created a cohesive story that had a common thread throughout, which is a great way to think of your engagement year. There are so many occasions and special moments that you want to remember forever, and looking and feeling your best during those times is important,” advises Wolfson. The looks featured in “Got U” were pulled from Bloomingdales, Sofia, Belle Vie Bridal Couture, miracouture.com, and www.nicolemiller.com.

The film follows one fictitious couple on their journey to marital bliss. The beauty that was created in filming, the concept, the shoot, the editing, and musical composition were all accomplished in two weeks. This film shows what greatness can be accomplished when all hands are working as one. It also inspires the idea of having your own feature film created to help you remember all the great moments from your engagement to the wedding and beyond.
