South Shore Cultural Center Wedding

We’re pleased to bring you an enchanting wedding at the Chicago Park District’s South Shore Cultural Cente. With it’s impressive country club-like interior, this historic facility features a solarium, formal dining hall, nature sanctuary, butterfly garden and beach, making it an ideal wedding venue. Playing up the traditional setting, the bride wore a stunning lace Pronovias gown. We especially love how the coral, grey and cream color scheme seamlessly coordinated with the venue. Also noteworthy are the talented vendors, many of which are conveniently situated in Oak Park.

From the Bride:  The best part of our wedding was the immense amount of love and happiness and getting to share it with everyone that I love. The colors, the energy, and the dancing were also amazing. It was also really wonderful to get to see all of our hard work planning come together in the form of one amazing day. Our wedding was really a labor of love. We had so much help from so many amazing women in our lives.

It was amazing for everyone to come together and have an amazing celebration, full of happiness, after losing my father earlier this year and having a very dark year.  The incredible family and friends who supported my family through such a difficult year got to come out and celebrate life with us, which was such a blessing.

The Proposal: Chad surprised me with an amazing homemade dinner one Friday evening. It was Spanish tapas, which is my favorite having lived in Spain for a year. It was an amazing meal, and afterward he told me there was another surprise. He took out his saxophone and played “My One and Only Love” by John Coltrane. It was our song, and he had secretly learned it to surprise me. (Chad is a really talented sax player.) I learned later that he had been practicing in the air while sitting in the Operating Room for hours on end. Chad was in medical school at the time. I, of course, was in tears. It was so beautiful. Afterward, he got down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
